It was an absolute pleasure for me to have a personal conversation and then share it with you all on Youtube and in my podcast. I have known Dr. Chitra Edra since 2017. She became a mentor to me in a Sanskrit study group that I was a part of. That beginning group with Dr. Sanya Pisharodi cultured a new wave of Ayurvedic practitioners who value the traditional application of understanding Sanskrit and the origins of the vedas.
It was in her tranlsation of the Astānga Hrdayam that was a cornerstone of achievement for herself and the lineage of students who use this manual daily to work with clients to heal themselves with lifestyle practices like these:
- dinacharya, दिनचर्या, daily practices
- ritucharya, ऋतुचर्या, seasonal practices
Dinacharya and ritucharya are the two foundational principles that when exercised daily and seasonally can resolve many common signs and symptoms of disease and inflammation.
The original group and then, later, the extracted group became an incubator for Ayurveda Practitioners seeking to honor the lineage of understanding the truest origins of Ayurveda and the current applications happening in the subcontinent of India, and beyond. I have spent years studying with this group and stopped when the pandemic was beginning to lift to turn toward applying all of these years of learning into my own work.
In this podcast, you will learn of Dr. Chitra Edra’s personal journey to move through healing principles, translating the Astānga Hrdayam with Dr. Sanjay Pisharodi, and how she knitted together a life which has led to her becoming a doctor of Ayurveda. It is a deep pleasure to share her story with you and I hope you will find inspiration in her life’s work and how it has evolved at every stage.
This episode is especially dedicated to menopausal women who enter a new phase of returning of creativity to be embodied. Rather than the years focused on outward-facing creativity of career, family, caretaking elders, we may decide to foster creativity in the rest of the phase of our life. The best part about this return of embodied creativity is the elevation of other girls and women along the way.
