In a world obsessed with fleeting trends and external perfection, finding a path to genuine self-expression and inner beauty can often feel like a distant dream, right? For women over 40, who may find themselves in a phase of reflection and transition, the quest for authenticity and self-discovery takes on new dimensions. If you are a woman over 40, you know that things are changing in your body. If you haven’t seen the signs yet, they are coming. We all experience them.

For some, the skin’s luminosity shifts, you notice it takes more exercise to counter the usual “bounce back” from bloating after eating carbohydrate-rich foods, like bread, doughnuts, and pasta. The shifts of hormones begin to turn at around age 35 years. This may be noticed modestly, but by the time most women enter their forties, signs and symptoms of perimenopause click into place. What I want to tell you is this, adding self-care, self-love, affirmations can do so much to generate a new way of of feeling in your body. During this time of change, loving yourself is essential to make the most of the next phase of life which can be so rich and lush with personal development.

In my own journey, I have found that a beautiful segue for my entry into middle age has been discovering face yoga—a practice that not only rejuvenates the skin but also fosters a deeper connection with one’s own intuitive beauty. It has been so transformative that I personally believe it can help you rediscover you inner beauty more so than the idea of doing face yoga for your outer beauty. For me, face yoga has been the catalyst for my redisovering how much I love my body at this time of my life. I’ve stopped looking backwards, which I did a lot in my 30s. I did a great deal of lamenting and creating ideas of nostalgia around my youthful appearance.

It was only when I discovered the depth that face yoga brought to my personal experience, did I fully understand the connections of touching my face with love and the influence upon my deeper awareness of my own intuition and how I connect with the universe through it. Like my own personal information highway, face yoga elevated my yoga and meditation practice. This is something I didn’t foresee happening. I was truly in it to refine my and relax the appearance of my face. However, I discover a deeper personal journey than I ever dreamed was possible.

I am sharing an outline below of how you can apply this idea of an intersection with face yoga and your authenticity, which results in an experience that I am naming as “intuitive beauty”. When I google this notion of intuitive beauty, I find a number of spas, treatments, and claims for this name. However, I am sticking with this concept, as it fully encompasses the experience I have had for almost four years now. Check out my takeaways from this experience:

Embracing the Journey: The Intersection of Face Yoga and Authenticity

Face yoga, a practice that combines facial exercises with mindful breathing, is more than just a tool for toning and tightening. It offers a unique opportunity for women over 40 to reconnect with themselves on a deeper level. This journey isn’t just about improving appearance; it’s about nurturing a sense of authenticity and self-acceptance that radiates from within.

When you begin practicing face yoga, you begin to reconnect with the idea of your appearance and embrace the changing nature of your face. The reason you can embrace and receive the change in a simpler way is better because you have become more conditioned to understand the daily changes your face has. You become informed and better understand the way consuming oils, hydration, and plant fiber influences your face. You teach yourself about your the personal landscape from the outside in. It’s beautiful to watch this happen with each of my students.

Reconnecting with Your Inner Self

As we age, the mirror often reflects changes that can be challenging to embrace. Wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging might be perceived as deviations from an ideal standard of beauty. Face yoga encourages a shift in perspective by focusing on the process of self-care and self-awareness rather than mere appearance.

Through simple, deliberate movements and exercises, face yoga helps to promote circulation and muscle tone. But its benefits extend beyond the physical. The practice invites women to engage in mindful moments of self-reflection and presence, allowing them to celebrate their unique features and the stories they tell. This conscious engagement helps cultivate a more profound sense of self-love and acceptance.

This conscious exercise of self-care fosters self-awareness and helps you tap into your intuitive nature through touching and caring for your skin and soul. As a yoga teacher, I understand this “key” of face yoga helps to enliven your third eye chakra. Within the holistic quality of face yoga practice, the energizing of the third eye and the crown chakra on a physical level offers practical magic to bridge the connectivity of the frontal cortex of the brain with the vagus nerve that moves from the brain into the gut. This physical practice brings a daily “key” to turn on your connection with your intuition.

Cultivating Intuitive Beauty

Intuitive beauty is about recognizing and honoring your natural grace and essence. Face yoga can enhance this understanding by encouraging women over 40 to listen to their bodies and connect with their inner wisdom. As you practice, you become more attuned to the subtle sensations and expressions of your face, which can lead to greater self-awareness and a deeper appreciation for your own beauty.

I find this be a profound time to introduce face yoga to women moving into a transformation of middle age. By bringing this in to your 40s decade, you leverage a time of confidence to help you build the intuitive nature of your being. By the time you are 50, you can seamlessly move into the perimenopause-menopause transition with less discomfort. You can take the time to bridge the connection to the spiritual world through physical experience of self-love, self-care, and touching the third eye regularly. Touching really helps to reconnect to our bodies during an era of humanity this so outwardly focused in another world of information. The internet is magical in many ways, but can be dehumanizing in its form.

I mention this because it has its function which is not at all connected with intuition. We can leverage the internet with our intuition to create, inspire, and call in communities, friends, and families. However, the energy required to interact within the internet can be depleting to our own personal energetics and dim the lightness of our intuition, which connects to universal laws and experience.

Each exercise in face yoga is a dialogue with your own reflection. By focusing on how each movement feels and how it affects your facial expressions, you cultivate a heightened sense of connection between mind and body. This mindful practice not only promotes physical rejuvenation but also fosters an intuitive understanding of what makes you uniquely beautiful.

Building Confidence and Self-Esteem

Face yoga can be a powerful tool for building confidence and self-esteem. As women over 40 embrace their authenticity through the practice, they often find a renewed sense of self-worth. The physical benefits of face yoga—such as improved muscle tone and a more youthful appearance—can enhance overall confidence, but the true transformation happens on a deeper level.

This is where intuitive beauty is born inside of you.

The act of dedicating time to self-care and embracing one’s own natural beauty can be incredibly empowering. It shifts the focus from societal standards of beauty to personal appreciation and self-respect. This newfound confidence can inspire a more authentic approach to life, relationships, and personal goals.

Embracing the Process

It’s important to remember that face yoga is not a quick fix but a journey of self-discovery. The process involves consistent practice, patience, and a willingness to explore and embrace change. As women over 40 engage in this practice, they often find that the benefits extend beyond their physical appearance, touching aspects of their emotional and spiritual well-being.

The key of discovering the power of your intuitive state and how to work within it for me and other women has been through the practical application of face yoga and, of course, body yoga, as well. I like combining the two when I work with 1:1 clients as we build a practice unique to each and every woman’s body and face. The face follows the body and the body follows the face forward. Both work synergistically as every human body does. We can’t isolate the facial exercise without attending to the solar plexus, which where the depth of intuition is seated.

By integrating face yoga into your routine, you can cultivate a greater sense of self-love and authenticity. This practice encourages you to look beyond the surface and connect with your inner self, celebrating your unique beauty and life experience.

Conclusion

Face yoga is more than just a trend; it’s a transformative practice that can help women reconnect with your own authenticity and intuitive beauty. By focusing on self-care, mindfulness, and self-acceptance, face yoga offers a path to embrace one’s natural grace and unique qualities. As you embark on this journey, remember that true beauty radiates from within, and embracing your own authenticity is the most powerful form of self-expression and the key to discovering your connection to the universe: your intuition.

So, take a deep breath, smile at your reflection, and let face yoga guide you towards a more authentic and beautiful version of yourself!
