Does a trip to a fresh and clean beach with gorgeous waves sounds so great to wash away all of the tasking on the to-do list?

This sounds deliciously wonderful to me right now as I stare down work, my partner’s schedule, my kids’ schedules, and all of the coordinating phoning our wonderful elder relatives to keep up with their lives. They are so important, we don’t want to miss an opportunity at this phase of life. Does this sound familiar to you?
I ask because the late summer presents a stressful time for most of us living in the Northern Hemisphere. These can be the dog days booming with activity to bring frazzled energy into your life! In this post, I am sharing ways to claim or reclaim your goddess nature, because the world needs more us to do this. It’s the only way to lead the world with feminine energy.

Stop to focus on YOU when the world is moving forward.

When the world begins to move faster with back to school activities, playground meet ups, ball games, and the schedule is overflowing with all the things you just can’t miss. Breathe. Then carve out the time to prioritize how you are doing it all! This will help you re-establish flow with all of the new energy happening.

Centered structure around YOUR world facilitates the energy moving from YOUR lifestyle into the world. This is critical so you aren’t pushing the world’s energy into your lifestyle. Claiming the power to express your energy around this sets a welcome tone to everyone in your life. I love the power in this quote:

“People respond well to those that are sure of what they want.”

— Anna Wintour, Editor In Chief, Vogue Magazine

Most of what we want is tied up in our lifestyle and habits. Before sorting out others’ needs, check on lifestyle and habits in your life. Is this tidy and identified for you? Are you certain about prioritizing your lifestyle?

I’ve got you! Below, you will find an outline for you to double down on grounding yourself at this time of late summer when the heat, activities, work-life balance, and family can rely on your leadership to bring it all home (literally) for everyone.

Revisit your personal care now, even during the heat of summer.

I know in my own life, these tips help me return to cultivating my own personal care and allows me to move into more leadership thoughts about my business, running a household, and nurturing my aging parents. For many of us over 40, we find that we become in the middle of those who are younger and those who are older than us. It is the interminably tireless time of being part of the “sandwich generation”.

As the center of the “sandwich” of loved ones, being pulled in both directions, you may find that being in the center brings focus to what is important to YOU. YOU are important to you because when your lifestyle begins to run on bare bones, you can find that you may lose footing in your own health and wellness. The reality is that you need to be in top function at this time of life to manage others’ needs.

Take care in lighthearted focus to bring the following ideas to the top of your self-love practices and watch the positivity ripple into everyone around you!

End of Summer Self-Care Practices (Habits)

  1. Stay Hydrated: As temperatures rise, staying hydrated becomes even more important. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin glowing and your body functioning optimally.
  2. Sun Protection: Protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays by wearing sunscreen with a high SPF, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. This helps prevent premature aging and reduces the risk of skin damage.
  3. Light and Comfortable Clothing: Opt for lightweight and breathable clothing to stay cool and comfortable. Natural fabrics like cotton and linen are great choices for hot weather.
  4. Outdoor Activities: Enjoy outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or swimming. Engaging in regular physical activity not only keeps you fit but also boosts your mood and energy levels. Working a lot? Try these stretches to get flowing into this time of year!
  5. Healthy Eating: Take advantage of the seasonal produce like fruits and vegetables. Incorporate plenty of salads, smoothies, and hydrating foods into your diet. These foods are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that support your overall health.
  6. Skincare Routine: Adjust your skincare routine to accommodate the changing weather. Use a gentle exfoliant like a fresh yogurt mask to remove dead skin cells and follow up with a lightweight moisturizer. Don’t forget to keep your skin protected with sunscreen.
  7. Mindfulness and Relaxation: Late summer can be a great time to practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques to ignite good and clear thinking.
  8. Deep Breathing: Pranayama is the yogic action of “breath retention”. This is so beneficial to help you think more clearly when things get busy. Take time to reconnect with your breath in this VIDEO.
  9. Hair Care: The sun and heat can take a toll on your hair. Use a protective spray or conditioner with UV filters to shield your hair from damage. Consider a trim to get rid of split ends and keep your hair looking healthy.
  10. Social Connection: Take care in opting into the social events which are most meaningful to you. Feel free to decline events that seem depleting to your energy. Focus on a single event in one day to preserve your energy. Catch up with folks on your schedule and know that there is an abundance of time to see everyone. Connecting with loved ones contributes to your emotional well-being.
  11. Self-Care: Set aside time for self-care rituals like a relaxing bath, reading a book, or enjoying a hobby. Taking care of yourself is essential for maintaining balance and also leading others to balance.
  12. Declutter and Organize: Late summer is a good time to declutter your living spaces. Streamline your belongings and create a more organized environment. Let go of the things that have piled up in the entryway and garage. Allow time to do this over the next couple of weekends so you don’t feel stressed about it.
  13. Plan Ahead: As summer transitions into fall, start thinking about your goals and plans for the upcoming season. This could include fitness goals, creative projects, or personal development objectives.

Remember, these tips are meant to enhance your overall well-being and make the most of the late summer season. Listen to your body, enjoy the present moment, and embrace the opportunities this time of year brings.
